WHERE SPEECH AND OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
come together.
The SPOT is a neuro-affirming pediatric therapy clinic in Vancouver, BC, where speech and occupational therapy work together — child-led, play-based care in a space designed for how children move, play, and learn.
And we don't stop there: for youth and young adults, our care grows with them — building real-world skills and independence for everyday life.

WHY WE BUILT the SPOT.
The SPOT was founded by two experienced pediatric clinicians — a speech-language pathologist and an occupational therapist — who each run an established practice and share a conviction: that therapy works best when it meets a child where they are, and when the space itself is part of the work.
They wanted to create something different — a place designed with real intention, where speech and occupational therapy come together, where children, youth, and adults can play, explore, and connect, and where progress happens in ways that carry into real life. Because when the approach and the environment align, a person can do more than work toward their goals — they can thrive.

– keeping what works and changing what doesn’t.

DESIGNED TO BE
explored.
At The SPOT, the space is part of the experience. We've intentionally designed our clinic to be a multisensory environment where children feel free to move, explore, play, and be themselves — because when children feel comfortable, regulated, and engaged, that's when the best learning and connection happen.
EVERY CORNER IS MEANT TO BE DISCOVERED.
OUR HOME
We're proud to call 2005 Quebec Street our home. The building was thoughtfully designed with accessibility and inclusion at its heart and has received Canada's highest accessibility rating through the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification in 2020.
From abundant natural light and sound-dampening features to fully accessible entrances, elevators, and washrooms, every detail was chosen to help create a space where children, families, and caregivers with diverse ways of moving, communicating, and experiencing the world feel welcome, comfortable, and supported.

HOW WE WORK
At The SPOT, therapy is built around each person we work with — their strengths, their interests, and the way they naturally learn, move, and connect.
WHY SPEECH + OCCUPATIONAL
THERAPY TOGETHER?
Children don't experience communication, play, movement, emotions, and daily routines as separate parts of life — and neither do we.
A child who feels regulated and confident in their body may find it easier to communicate, learn, and connect with others. A child who can express their needs and ideas may be better able to participate in play, build relationships, and navigate everyday challenges.
Because these skills are so closely connected, speech and occupational therapy often work hand in hand. Together, they help children build the communication, regulation, confidence, and independence they need to participate meaningfully in the activities and relationships that matter most.
At The SPOT, we look at the whole child and work alongside families to support growth in a way that feels connected, practical, and meaningful in everyday life.
"YOUR FIRST VISIT - AND EVERY VISIT AFTER - IS ABOUT FEELING COMFORTABLE, CURIOUS, AND FREE TO BE YOURSELF."
CHILD-LED + PLAY-BASED — and we mean it.
We follow your child's lead and meet them where they are. Play isn't a reward for getting through the "real" work — play is the work. It's how children learn, grow, and move toward their goals, so therapy happens through what your child loves.
NEURO-AFFIRMING care.
We celebrate each person for who they are. Our focus is on strengths, autonomy, connection, and meaningful participation — supporting the way each person communicates, learns, and engages with the world, rather than trying to change it.
People do their best when they feel safe and understood. We take the time to build trust because a strong relationship is the foundation for everything else.
DESIGNED FOR THE whole family.
Therapy works best when families feel supported too. We partner with caregivers, share tools, and build community — because we want families to feel welcome here.
WORKING TOWARDS independence.
We believe the goal of therapy is, ultimately, to graduate from it. Our focus is always on building each child's skills, confidence, and self-advocacy — supporting them to need us less over time. We walk alongside youth and young adults as they step into adulthood, so support doesn't end just because the number changes.
RELATIONSHIPS come first.

THE SPOT WELCOMES CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND YOUNG ADULTS — ages 1 TO 24
— each with their own strengths, needs, and way of seeing the world.
Families come to us for all kinds of reasons: help with communication and language, social connection, regulation and sensory needs, motor skills, play, feeding, or the routines of everyday life. We work with neurodivergent children and young people, including individuals with:
Autism
ADHD
Learning Differences
Developmental Delays
Genetic Conditions
— and with anyone who could benefit from speech and/or occupational therapy.
No referral or diagnosis needed.

Therapy doesn't have to happen alone. Collaborative therapy groups, parent-child play sessions, therapy assistant support, and workshops for schools — co-led by SLPs and OTs, together every step.

Every program at the SPOT is co-designed and co-facilitated by registered therapists. We believe families deserve programs that are guided by professionals with the training and knowledge to apply clinical reasoning and adapt supports in real time.
This ensures every experience is developmentally appropriate and meaningful for each participant to support growth and progress.
